Back Panel Gap

Some water walls separate the stone as it is easier to mount and create a water wall for each piece rather than mount the stone contiguously.  The customer then ends up with two or three small water walls rather than one large water wall.

Also, most water walls include a large top and bottom canopy.  The canopies therefore reduce the size of the actual wall of water compared to our design, so for a similar overall dimension of water feature, our features have a larger water wall and no break (gap) in the wall of water.

Back Panel Pattern Matching

If purchasing a water wall that comprises more than one piece of stone, it is prudent to check that the adjacent pieces of stone have been cut from the same slab and that the pattern flows continuously through both pieces of stone.  There should not be a jump in the pattern at the join where the manufacturer has used two pieces of stone from different slabs, or areas of the same slab that do not adjoin.   This is an inexpensive way to gain a larger area of backdrop stone as remnants of stone may be used rather than dedicating a whole new slab of stone to the water wall.

Another inexpensive alternative is to use tile as the backdrop for the water wall.

For all our medium and large water falls we start with a new slab and cut adjoining pieces of stone so that the pattern flows continuously through the water feature.

Visible Water Fall Edge

Existing water walls do not have a visible waterfall edge, they typically use a large top canopy to hide the water distribution mechanism and lighting.  The large top canopy therefore reduces the square footage of the water wall itself compared to our water walls which have a very small area of the top tank on display resulting in a cleaner look.

Existing water walls typically use a pipe with holes drilled along the pipe to dribble water onto the water wall face and hide the pipe behind the top canopy.  We wanted to actually create an indoor waterfall and expose the waterfall edge to add another dimension to indoor water features.

To create a continuous waterfall along the full length of our largest waterfalls requires, typically, significantly more water flow than existing water wall products.  As a result of increased flow, the water wall running down the stone backdrop is typically fuller and more expansive.  Indeed, a significant number of existing water wall products on the market pump so little water, the backdrop often has dry spots.
